$25.966 - $32.457 - $38.948The stated pay scale reflects the range that Sharp reasonably expects to pay for this position. The actual pay rate and pay grade for this position will be dependent on a variety of factors, including an applicant’s years of experience, unique skills and abilities, education, alignment with similar internal candidates, marketplace factors, other requirements for the position, and employer business practices.
What You Will Do
To perform a wide variety of technical procedures with quality patient care, assisting nurses and Physicians as needed.
Required Qualifications
- AHA Basic Life Support for Healthcare Professional (AHA BLS Healthcare) - American Heart Association -REQUIRED
Preferred Qualifications
- 1 Year acute care nursing assistant and prior order entry experience.
- ACLS Certification (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) - American Heart Association -PREFERRED
Essential Functions
- Access site management
Assesses access site prior to sheath removal including but not limited to arterial and/or venous sheaths, sheath size, orientation.
Uses Blood glucose equipment proficiently.
Knowledgeable of anticoagulation therapy and its impact upon sheath removal.
Knowledgeable of manual pressure, C-Clamp, Femostop for pressure application.
Knowledgeable of proper treatment of access sites with closure devices such as Boomerang, Angioseal and Vasoseal.
Knowledgeable in the assistance of physicians for myocardial biopsy including but not limited to proper tray set up, scrub technique, IJ sheath removal.
Maintains inventory and sterilization of all equipment utilized for cath lab procedures including but not limited to device implants and dialysis graft interventions. - Assessment and plan of care
Identifies and reports cardiac monitoring assessment data fundamental to development and/or update of patient's plan of care.
Interprets EKG in seven and four leads per competency (EKG Rhythms I & II)
Identification of changes and trends in cardiac rhythms per standards
Communicates changes and trends in cardiac rhythms to other staff per standards
Identifies arrhythmias necessary for the nurse to download into electronic documentation systems to maintain an accurate rhythm history in the electronic record. - Cardiac monitoring
Views and prints in seven and four leads ECGs
Sets alarms with parameters.
Review alarm histories(scan events and print events)
Assures pacemaker detection and capture.
Determines best view/lead for arrythmia detection
Prints trends of arrhythmias
Demonstrates ability to print, arrhythmias for the nurse to download into electronic documentation systems. - Patient and family education
Provides pre and post procedure/sheath removal education and reassurance to include but not limited to: What the procedure is, how long it is going to take, individuals involved, medication administration and mode of delivery, positioning, instructions related to post sheath removal, bedrest and movement restrictions, patient satisfaction form, etc.
Interacts and communicates in a manner to reflect an understanding of the patient's age, culture, state of health, level of comprehension
Communicates and interacts with the patient's family in a way that is perceived positive and supportive while maintaining patient confidentiality - Quality assurance
Verifies patient identification and pregnancy status
Implements safe, efficient and therapeutic care
Assists physicians in procedures while practicing sterile techniques to prevent cross-contamination.
Performs proper procedure on proper patient
Demonstrates knowledge of universal precautions
Observes the patient, reports any changes in status, and initiates appropriate action to ensure a positive outcome. Follows patient's Advanced Directive.
Maintains strict patient confidentiality, keeps work discussion professional and limited to private areas
