$61.825 - $79.774 - $97.723


The stated pay scale reflects the range that Sharp reasonably expects to pay for this position.  The actual pay rate and pay grade for this position will be dependent on a variety of factors, including an applicant’s years of experience, unique skills and abilities, education, alignment with similar internal candidates, marketplace factors, other requirements for the position, and employer business practices.



What You Will Do
Assists patients, staff and providers as needed to maintain a high level of efficiency of operations and customer service while providing quality care to a designated patient population. Responsible for supervising and coordinating operations of assigned departments. Provides direct patient care in the clinical setting. Acts as a patient and employee advocate, works cooperatively with physicians and assures communications with and among staff and managers in accordance with the Sharp Rees-Stealy mission and goals statements.

Required Qualifications
  • 3 Years RN experience in related clinical area.
  • Leadership experience.
  • California Registered Nurse (RN) - CA Board of Registered Nursing -REQUIRED
  • AHA Basic Life Support for Healthcare Professional (AHA BLS Healthcare) - American Heart Association -REQUIRED

Essential Functions
  • Budget development and adherence
    Develop and implement the budget for assigned departments.
    Maintain cost efficiency to achieve budget results in regards to supply orders, staffing and equipment.
    Monitors monthly trends and financial performance.
    Ensures equipment and personnel requirements are identified and included for budget consideration.
  • Department efficiency and effectiveness
    Staffing-Ensures appropriate level of staffing (flex up and down) and assesses requests for time off (including breaks, late/early arrivals/departures and vacations). Works with Staffing Specialist to ensure coverage and/or provide adequate alternatives. Maintains attendance records on staffing and ensures attendance and overtime compliance. Monitors level of staffing to ensure appropriate service delivery.
    Timecards-Collects time cards and checks for accuracy, prepares for approval and submits to payroll by deadline. Monitors and tracks overtime/NB.
    Employee Certification- Organizes and maintains nursing licenses and staff certifications to ensure current validity.
    Daily Organization/Effectiveness-Ensures prompt and efficient return of messages in the department. Monitors patient flow, provider schedules and completion of daily tasks in the department to ensure quality and service standards.
    Policy & Procedure-Monitors policy and procedure compliance within the department. Implements procedural changes, such as new protocols, and educates staff to changes. May maintain policy and procedures manuals and/or sit on Policy and Procedure Committee relevant to department functions and front desk operations.
  • Human resource management
    New Hires and Orientation: Completes initial screening interview and involves appropriate provider(s) in final hiring decision. Completes paperwork and submits training calendar and skills roster within 90 days. Oversees orientation of new employees to assure appropriate clinical performance and service delivery.
    Staff Training and Development: Schedules and coordinates clinical and technical in-services, customer service in-services, mock codes and pharmacy fairs. Provide ongoing clinical and service support and supervision.
    Corrective Action: Coaches and utilizes corrective action with employees in a pro-active, legally acceptable manner compatible with company policy. Documents corrective action and communicates to manager as appropriate.
    Evaluations: Communicates performance expectation to staff, assesses developmental needs and initiates action plans to address issues and build skills. Maintains schedule of evaluation dates. Prepares, distributes and collects pre-evaluation paperwork. Accurately completes performance appraisals before the employee anniversary date, with clear documentation supporting rating.
    Leadership: Consistently pro-active in team development and in problem-solving to meet department goals. Conducts assigned departments meetings to assess and resolve needs, issues and foster ongoing communication/cooperation. Develops and implements action plans that address needs. Facilitates inter-departmental cooperation and teamwork; participates in committees, task forces, special activities or projects. Acts as a resource and role model for staff.
  • Quality assurance
    Educates staff about quality clinical and service standards. Integrates team approach by delegating various QA responsibilities to staff members and following-up on compliance.
    Maintains continuous compliance of Quality Standards. Maintains QA book or data sheets on assigned departments. Brings any quality issues to the attention of the manager.
    Develops specific quality standards for assigned departments. Reviews reports and implements action plans to improve service standards.
    Ensures instruction and compliance of departmental staff with daily/weekly/monthly QA requirements. Yearly average of assigned departments: 95%=Great, 94-90%= Good, <90%=NI.
  • Technical skills
    Nursing-Demonstrates advanced clinical nursing skills in designated area as measured by providing direct patient care and successfully performing duties of the nursing staff in all areas of responsibility. Demonstrates technical expertise and competence, within the established scope of practice. Acts as clinical resource for the designated areas of responsibility.
    Clinical Expertise-Demonstrates strong nursing skill in the areas of assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of patient care. Demonstrates technical expertise and competency within scope of practice, acts as a clinical resource for the designated area of responsibility. Partners with physicians to continuously learn and expand clinical knowledge base.
    Triage/ Messages-Listen to patients, collect pertinent information and assess patient's need, recognize the urgency of the patient's problem, offer advice and recommendations based on approved protocols or route to physicians, schedule appointments. Assist in ensuring telephone messages are returned.
    Patient Education-In partnership with provider's requests, assist with developing patient education material or provide individual teaching (explanation) in regards to common problems within the designated area of responsibility.
    Participate in clinical projects as directed by the physician or manager.
    AEHR - Demonstrate typing skills proficiency by: Using a keyboard, required to type proficiently and accurately; Have the ability to type a minimum of 30 words per minute with 0-2 errors; Have the ability to proof work.
    Front Desk - Provides assistance to staff in resolving issues related to front desk responsibilities including scheduling, cashiering and telephone management. Acts as a positive role model and ensures appropriate service delivery.
    Applications - Ensures compliance with established policies, procedures and guidelines for 0CM, BAR, Scheduling and other applications.
