$35.670 - $46.030 - $56.380The stated pay scale reflects the range that Sharp reasonably expects to pay for this position. The actual pay rate and pay grade for this position will be dependent on a variety of factors, including an applicant’s years of experience, unique skills and abilities, education, alignment with similar internal candidates, marketplace factors, other requirements for the position, and employer business practices.
***Required: Minimum of 5 years anesthesia tech experience in a multispecialty acute care hospital.
What You Will Do
Provides leadership, coordination, ongoing development and productivity of services to Surgery. Provides support to the surgical patient and OR team by performing activities involving anesthesia care, developing and implementing plan of care interventions appropriately modified to meet population specific needs of the patient under the supervision of a licensed anesthesia provider or Registered Nurse. Assists the Anesthesiologist with airway management and intubation, physiologic monitoring, including insertion of lines, insertion of regional blocks, and other patient support devices. Performs other patient and department duties as needed to maintain the flow of patient care, including but not limited to procurement and handling of medications, stocking supplies and equipment, performing routine maintenance and safety checks of equipment, cleaning, disinfection and sterilization of equipment, including quality assurance and documentation of these activities, providing patient care within the scope of practice, communicating information related to patient care, equipment, supplies.
Required Qualifications
- 5 Years anesthesia tech experience in a multispecialty acute care hospital.
- Experience in communicating clearly and effectively; and working collaboratively with others of diverse culture, educational background and experience, etc.
- Experience in prioritizing and managing multiple projects.
- AHA Basic Life Support for Healthcare Professional (AHA BLS Healthcare) - American Heart Association -REQUIRED
Preferred Qualifications
- Other Graduate of an Anesthesia Tech program.
- 1 Year leadership experience.
Essential Functions
- Assists with Patient care
Anticipates and responds to situations effectively and in accordance with departmental policies/procedures/guidelines.
Prepares and assists with insertion of hemodynamic monitoring lines.
Assists with intubation/airway management. Assists in emergency resuscitation procedures.
Assist with placement of regional anesthesia (epidural, spinal, blocks).
Demonstrates proficiency with use of: 1) Physiologic Monitoring equipment, including transport monitors; 2) Defibrillators 3) Trans Esophageal Echocardiography Machine; 4) Platelet Concentration; 5) Anesthesia Machines; 6) Fluid Warming and Rapid Infusion devices
Is able to adapt care to specific needs of the patient population served. - Communication

Participates with the hiring of qualified personnel by working with Manager, Business Support.
Coaches, counsels, trains and conducts timely annual performance appraisals.
Helps create and ensure staff competencies are met and maintained in accordance regulatory and department standards.
Develops and achieves goals on a yearly basis.
Provides an environment that challenges and creates opportunities for recognition of an individual's worth and ability to meet and exceed standards.
Leads and/or participates on task forces for Surgical Services and interfaces with Materials and Support Services as well as Nursing and sterile processing department.
Ensure department strives toward systemization through procedure review and implementation.

Contributes to the identification of and operationalizes cost reduction measures or revenue enhancing opportunities. - Preoperative and Intra-Operative Assistance
Sets up anesthesia machines/equipment, monitoring equipment/specialty equipment and supplies for procedures per department expectations and according to scope of practice.
Handles medication and medication administration devices.
Demonstrates proficiency with aseptic technique during set up and during procedures.
Transports patients in a safe and timely manner according department protocol.
Maintains appropriate performance of skills roster/competencies related to patient care including surgical positioning and surgical skin preparation. Strategic planning.
Anticipates needs by obtaining/preparing correct and/or equipment.
Delivers needed or required supplies and/or equipment. - Quality
Ensures the work environment (OR/procedure rooms, anesthesia workroom, and carts, etc.) and all equipment (anesthesia machines, monitoring devices, transport monitors, are clean sterilized and organized as required by department protocol.
Ensures that all supply levels are appropriately maintained and stocked with anesthesia supplies.
Maintains records as required, including quality control, charges, patient care documentation, preventative maintenance records. Follows hospital protocol for product evaluation and standardization.
Establishes a safe work environment for employees by ensuring equipment safety compliance.
Works proactively with Manager Business Support, Anesthesia Group, Surgery Manager, Director, surgery educator, surgery staff, infection control, regulatory, Engineering, Biomed, Environmental Services, Risk Management and other services to engage ongoing compliance.
Encourages staff participation in problem-solving process.
Participates in quality assurance programs including LEAN, Daily Management System and HRO.
Assures delivery of quality patient care that meets all accreditation and regulatory standards.
Maintains location index of all anesthesia equipment and supplies.
Disinfects and/or sterilizes supplies and equipment per department protocol.
Completes 'turnover' cleaning/stocking between cases in a timely manner.
Inspects anesthesia machines/equipment for proper functioning. Removes defective or malfunctioning equipment immediately from service, reporting incident to appropriate persons.
Maintains appropriate performance of skills roster/competencies related to equipment maintenance. Performs routine sweeps for expired products and maintains documentation of audits in all anesthesia technologist's areas of responsibility. - Safety
Complies with all hospital and department policies and procedures regarding patient and employees' safety.
Practices appropriate universal precautions, as outlined in policies and procedures.
Reports all observed hazards and unsafe practices to appropriate staff members.
Uses proper body mechanics.
Maintains a safe environment at all times.
Complies with organization/department/unit mandatory annual safety education and required testing.
Maintains documented completion of Safety module training.
Maintains documentation of TB skin testing and CPR with no documented exceptions to departmental safety policies and procedures.
Wears appropriate clothing and equipment. - Inventory
Maintains established par levels on all stocking carts, anesthesia carts and other specified areas.
Notifies appropriate person or submits orders for needed supplies.
Assures that proper inventory stocking practices are being followed (rotation of stock and removal of expired items) and that supplies are handled properly to avoid damage.
Maintains par levels for medical gas cylinders.
Participates and adheres to policy/procedure regarding evaluation and selection new equipment/supplies.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Demonstrated ability to plan, design, implement and evaluate one’s own work and to work independently with minimal observation or supervision.
