$24.000 - $26.761 - $29.521The stated pay scale reflects the range that Sharp reasonably expects to pay for this position. The actual pay rate and pay grade for this position will be dependent on a variety of factors, including an applicant’s years of experience, unique skills and abilities, education, alignment with similar internal candidates, marketplace factors, other requirements for the position, and employer business practices.
What You Will Do
Under general supervision, provides protective services, direction, and assistance to assigned locations, patients, visitors, and staff. Manages disruptive persons professionally with a minimum use of force. Controls access to restricted and security sensitive areas. Respond to fire/security alarm activations by assuming scene command in emergency situations.
Required Qualifications
- H.S. Diploma or equivalent
- 1 year of security related experience
- California Security Guard Card - REQUIRED
- CA Driver's License - -REQUIRED
- Utilize reliable transportation and possess adequate personal insurance coverage. Demonstrate clean driving record in accordance with DMV'S Pull Notice program and Sharp HealthCare's Driver Guidelines
A valid driver's license may be required if driving is expected to be a function of the position and using alternative form of transportation would not be comparable in travel time or cost to the employer.
Preferred Qualifications
- College course in Criminal Justice, Sociology, and Psychology desirable.
- Experience in hospital security/healthcare setting
- IAHSS Basic Certification - PREFERRED
Essential Functions
- Customer Service
Actively respond to routine calls in a timely manner
Provide direction and information, problem solving, and escort services to both internal and external customers, treating each with courtesy and cooperation
When possible, should go out of their way to initiate brief contact with visitors and staff to ensure their needs are being met
Daily Report - Reports are to be made in the proper format, neat, accurate, concise, legible, free from spelling and grammatical errors, and completed at the end of the shift
- Department Policies and Procedures
Know where to locate fire alarm boxes, emergency telephone numbers, and other emergency procedures for situations such as Life Flight, fire, disaster, etc. - Parking Enforcement
Enforce parking regulations as required
Tickets are completed in a neat, accurate, legible manner and are free from spelling and grammatical errors
Towing situations are handled appropriately following departmental policy - Security Rounds
Patrol hospital interior, and grounds, being on the alert for persons or situations that threaten life or property
Patrol in a conscientious and visible manner, varying the routine and timing
Observe and remain vigilant for signs of crime, disorder, hazard, and unusual activity - Stat Calls
Orally and physically de-escalating individuals, as needed. Only uses force as a last resort
Provide assistance to fellow Officers when need arises
Respond to incidents of fire, medical emergency, bomb threat, flooding, water discharge, elevator emergency, hazardous materials, or inclement weather with calm urgency
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Ability to utilize resources in an organized and productive manner
- Ability to maintain a professional stance in all stressful situations
- Demonstrated ability in the application of first aid and emergency medical "first responder" skills
- Accurate report writing skills
- Strong ability and experience in using computers, including Microsoft Word, Microsoft Outlook
- Ability to process information quickly and thoroughly, in order to make sound, effective and ethical decisions that are trustworthy and keep with the highest standards of conduct
- Basic knowledge of penal codes
