This position is covered by a Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) with SEIU.

This position was originally posted to ratified SEIU members from 08/17/26 – 08/25/26. The position is now available to be filled by internal candidates that are not members of the ratified Bargaining Unit or External candidates to Sharp.


What You Will Do
Under the direction of the EVS Supervisor, assists the environmental services workers to provide a sanitary hospital environment.  Performs a variety of housekeeping duties, in a Lead capacity, to maintain order and sanitary conditions in patient care and public areas.

Required Qualifications

  • H.S. Diploma or Equivalent


Other Qualification Requirements

  • Current CA driver’s license, required (AM and PM shift only).


Essential Functions

  • The position characteristics reflect the most important duties, responsibilities and competencies considered necessary to perform the essential functions of the job in a fully competent manner.     Maintains a safe, clean working environment, including unit based safety and infection control requirements.
    Ensures the completion of all shifts’ duties.  Periodically checks on all staff through each shift.  Pertinent information is communicated to next shift.
    Troubleshoots and resolves daily problems for departmental staff and other medical center personnel that occur during the shift.
    Receives unscheduled absence/tardy calls and makes arrangements for coverage in absence of supervisor.
    Assures EVS worker breaks are taken appropriately.
    Ensures that orientation and appropriate training is provided to staff within area of responsibility.  Ensures that employees are clear about job expectations and requirements.
    Reports the progress and abilities of staff to EVS Supervisor.
    Knows and can perform any function of EVS workers. 
    Performs duties of the EVS Supervisor in his/her absence, with the exception of evaluations, counseling and disciplinary actions.
    Performs quality assurance checks in accordance with departmental policy.
    Communicates equipment and personnel problems, concerns and suggestions for improvement using appropriate lines of authority in a timely and effective manner.
    Adheres to TCMC safety policies and practices including maintenance of clear hallways.
    Able to perform and execute all duties of the Environmental Services Aide and the Environmental Services Support Aide - Lift/Floor/Trash/Linen.


Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Ability to push and pull a minimum of 750 lbs., required.
  • Ability to lift and move a minimum of 75 lbs., required.
  • Ability to understand proper floor care, required.
  • Ability to understand trash collection and proper trash disposal, required.
  • Ability to understand linen collection and proper linen distribution, required.
  • Ability to understand proper lifting and moving heavy objects, required.
  • Ability to work with and properly handle cleaning solutions and chemicals, required.
  • Ability to complete on-the-job training, including the proper operational procedures for the cleaning equipment and tools, and must demonstrate knowledge of health and sanitation standards, required.
  • Ability to speak and understand English, strong interpersonal and communication skills.
