$48.140 - $62.110 - $76.080The stated pay scale reflects the range that Sharp reasonably expects to pay for this position. The actual pay rate and pay grade for this position will be dependent on a variety of factors, including an applicant’s years of experience, unique skills and abilities, education, alignment with similar internal candidates, marketplace factors, other requirements for the position, and employer business practices.
What You Will Do
To provide evaluation and treatment of audiological disorders to Sharp Rees-Stealy patients upon appropriate medical/professional referral, predominantly in an ambulatory setting, as part of a coordinated health care team. California Audiology Dispensing License is strongly preferred.
Required Qualifications
- Master's Degree Audiology
- Audiologist - California Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology and Hearing Aid Dispensers Board -REQUIRED
- AHA Basic Life Support for Healthcare Professional (AHA BLS Healthcare) - American Heart Association -REQUIRED
- Certificate of Clinical Competence in Audiology (CCC-A) - The American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA) -REQUIRED
Essential Functions
- Consultation
Consults with physicians, providers, and audiology peers regarding patient evaluations and care when indicated. Informal interactions are verbal or short (less than twenty minutes) time consultations. Formal interactions are documented consultations with at least twenty minutes of patient evaluation. As measured by direct supervisor observation or written documentation by the involved audiologists.
Meets: Four informal interactions per month and participates in one co-evaluation or treatment or formal interaction.
Meets/exceeds: Five to six informal interactions per month and participates in two co-evaluations or treatments or formal interactions per month.
Consistently exceeds: Above six informal interactions per month and three or more co-evaluations or treatments or formal interactions per month. - Consultation with physicians, physician assistants and staff
Consultation with physicians, physician assistants and staff regarding patient treatment and progression of care

Completes appropriate clinic documentation (progress notes, charge tickets, reports, etc.) by the end of the treatment day. Follows policies and procedures for completing all other department documentation. As directly measured by supervisor observation.
Meets: Four documented exceptions per month. Five progress notes, reports, charge tickets and other documentation due by the end of the day exceptions equal one documented exception.
Meets/exceeds: Two or three exceptions per month.

Attends Continuing Education courses within an area of specialization. (Certain courses may be recommended).
Meets: Attends 2 courses per year.
Meets/exceeds: Attends 2 courses per year and attends 1 recommended course, seminar, class or professional meeting with supervisor approval.
Consistently exceeds: Attends 2 courses per year and attends 2 recommended courses, seminars, classes or professional meetings with supervisor approval.
Responsible for updating and managing unit in-services that fall under the clinician's specialty. Responsible for updating the unit in-service quarterly.
Meets: Offers one unit in-service or one article review.
Meets/Exceeds: Offers two of the preceding items.
Consistently Exceeds: Offers three of the preceding items. - Safety
Maintains current knowledge of and complies with all SRS and department guidelines, policies and procedures relating to safety issues and human resources activities, including:
Completes annual Employee Education/Safety modules
Consistently demonstrates safe and efficient work habits.
Consistently demonstrates knowledge for identifying and reporting unsafe work conditions and initiating procedure if applicable (Code RED, Code BLUE, Disaster Drill, etc.).
Complies with Human Resource policies regarding attendance, time cards, appearance standards, etc.
Maintains current State licensure, ASHA certification, CPR certification and annual TB test. - Teamwork and department development
Demonstrates teamwork, co-operation and departmental development through observation of the following:
Supports the work of department PSR's. Assists in training of support staff when required.

Meets: Attends 15 contact hours per year (includes monthly departmental: Audiology or ENT, etc). Presents two in-services per year. A presentation is 30 minutes long.
Meets/exceeds: Attends 16 - 21 contact hours per year. Presents three in-services per year. A presentation in 30 minutes long.
Consistently exceeds: Attends 22 or more contact hours per year. Presents four or more in-services per year. A presentation is 30 minutes long.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Competence in evaluating and treating adults and children with audiological and vestibular disorders.
- Ability to maintain composure and courtesy with the public.
- Demonstrates effective interpersonal and patient contact skills.
- Knowledge of Audiology evaluation and treatment methods; able to work effectively in a work mentoring program (CFY/RPE).
- Ability to speak intelligible English, ability to hear low intensity sound and discriminate subtle changes and distortions in speech sounds.
- Ability to see adequately to discern important environmental events and safety hazards, and to appreciate oral-facial characteristics as related to speech production and auditory reception.
- Ability to work, demonstrating awareness of safety practices for self, patients, staff and others.
- Ability to perform CPR.
- Intermediate through advanced position.
