Hourly Pay Range (Minimum - Midpoint - Maximum):

$51.880 - $66.940 - $82.000


The stated pay scale reflects the range that Sharp reasonably expects to pay for this position.  The actual pay rate and pay grade for this position will be dependent on a variety of factors, including an applicant’s years of experience, unique skills and abilities, education, alignment with similar internal candidates, marketplace factors, other requirements for the position, and employer business practices.



What You Will Do
Clinical inpatient rehab liaisons are responsible for department marketing, sales, and evaluating potential clients for admission to our inpatient rehab facility (IRF). Working closely with leadership, this role will assist with developing business strategies to increase referrals and admissions to the rehab center. Clinical liaisons provide a high level of face-to-face customer service and develop strong relationships with hospital leaders, physicians, discharge planners, and other clinicians both in the community and internal to Sharp. They work to assist hospitals with rehab evaluations in order efficiently determine if clients meet IRF criteria and assist with transfer to next level of care.

Required Qualifications
  • Master's Degree Physical Therapy Or
  • Master's Degree Occupation Therapy Or
  • Master's Degree Speech-Language Pathology Or
  • Bachelor's Degree in Nursing
  • 5 Years Experience in the health care industry (rehabilitation preferred) with extensive working knowledge of rehabilitation services.
  • California Licensed Physical Therapist (PT) - CA Physical Therapy Board -REQUIRED
  • California Occupational Therapist license - CA Board of Occupational Therapy -REQUIRED
  • California Speech-Language Pathologist - CA Speech-Language Pathology & Audiology & Hearing Aid Dispensers Board -REQUIRED
  • California Registered Nurse (RN) - CA Board of Registered Nursing -REQUIRED
  • Driver's License - CA Department of Motor Vehicles -REQUIRED

Preferred Qualifications
  • Previous or current knowledge with Inpatient Rehab Criteria.

Other Qualification Requirements
  • Utilizes reliable transportation and possesses adequate personal insurance coverage. Demonstrates clean driving record in accordance with requirements of the employer DMV pull notice program and Sharp HealthCare Driver Guidelines.

Essential Functions
  • Admissions
    Screens patients for inpatient rehab from various settings.
    Gathers information for referrals and contributes or completes preadmission assessments.
    Regularly communicates with Rehab Medical Director and other Physicians regarding potential patient admissions.
  • Data Management
    Effectively monitors, collects, and reports data including but not limited to current market trends and activity, facility targets, outcomes, goals and results.
    Develops and implements key territory management systems to monitor referral source patterns and utilization. Reports activity by referral source; and appropriately/strategically adjusts plans to ensure business retention.
  • Business Development and Referral Strategies
    Outreach to community, physicians, and other healthcare professionals, providing education sessions or presentations, and working with both internal and external departments to assess potential rehab patients.
    Initiates contractual discussions for new business opportunities with health care providers and payers.
    Offer recommendations for program/service development and enhancement to ensure market position/share is maintained inclusive of ongoing analysis of referral satisfaction trends.
  • Collaboration
    Meets face to face with referral sources including but not limited to: Hospital leadership, Physicians, Discharge Planners, and Clinical staff.
    Develops and maintains strong relationships with referral sources.
    Initiates and facilitates communication between SHC System and professional referral sources regarding service capabilities, admission criteria, treatment guidelines, outcomes and ongoing service needs.
    Closely works with Management to develop and implement sales and marketing strategies.
  • Education
    Educates patients and families regarding admission criteria, insurance, and their overall involvement in rehab treatment plan.
    Conducts in-services and professional presentations to stakeholders/referral sources about services provided at Sharp Rehab and outcomes.
  • Compliance
    Maintains current knowledge of Medicare Guidelines for Inpatient Rehab Criteria.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Able to multi-task and interface with multiple customers, including patients/families, referral sources and appropriate external and internal staff including physicians, case managers, and clinical staff.
  • Ability to prioritize, organize and problem solve complex situations.
  • Highly skilled in team development, service delivery and referral relations and business development.
