$75.458 - $97.365 - $119.272The stated pay scale reflects the range that Sharp reasonably expects to pay for this position. The actual pay rate and pay grade for this position will be dependent on a variety of factors, including an applicant’s years of experience, unique skills and abilities, education, alignment with similar internal candidates, marketplace factors, other requirements for the position, and employer business practices.
What You Will Do
Masters or doctoral prepared nurse with Clinical Nurse Specialist Certificate who applies clinical expertise in evidence-based nursing practice within three spheres of influence; 1) patient/client, 2) nurses/nursing practice, and 3) organization/system in the following roles: clinical expert, educator, researcher, consultant and leader. Recommends and set the standard for professional nursing practice, establishes appropriate patient care measures, and evaluates outcomes.
Required Qualifications
- Master's Degree or doctoral prepared nurse.
- 3 Years recent clinical experience.
- California Registered Nurse (RN) - CA Board of Registered Nursing -REQUIRED
- Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) - CA Board of Registered Nursing -REQUIRED
- AHA Basic Life Support for Healthcare Professional (AHA BLS Healthcare) - American Heart Association -REQUIRED

- Certification in specialty area of practice highly desired.
Essential Functions
- Patient/Client:
Uses advanced theoretical knowledge and clinical expertise in a specialty to assess, plan, implement and evaluate the care of patients/populations.
Develops, implements, and/or supports evidence-based interventions for individuals and populations, that achieve desired patient outcome(s).
Identifies and responds to patient related quality issues.
Consults with interdisciplinary team on clinical issues to achieve optimal patient outcomes.
Evaluates outcomes of nursing interventions for individuals and populations for effectiveness, patient responses, efficiency, customer satisfaction and fiscal impact. - Nurses/Nursing Practice:
Acts as a resource to staff nurses to improve the quality of patient care.
Promotes a model of nursing care that emphasizes professional role accountability, critical thinking, and collegiality with physicians and other health care professionals.
Provides input to the manager and staff nurses regarding areas for improvement in clinical practice.
Designs and/or supports evidence-based programs and/or processes that improve nursing practices
Expands the practice of nursing through ongoing generation and acquisition of evidence-based practice.
Provides leadership as role model and/or consultant to develop/retain professional nursing staff.
Creates an environment that stimulates self-learning and reflective nursing practice.
Provides direction, oversight and collaboration with nursing and interdisciplinary colleagues (educators, senior specialists, shared decision-making councils, etc.) in assessing the educational needs and designing educational programs that:
* Are based on evidence that improves nursing practice and clinical outcomes
* Incorporate theoretical frameworks to advance nursing practice (novice to expert, reflective learning. Adult learning theory, etc.)
* Foster the integration of the professional role of the nurse, advanced clinical decision making and acquisition of complex technical skills
* Develop competency-based orientation programs and ongoing clinical nursing competency.
* Provides final approval of educational content (i.e., classes, e-learning modules, etc.), clinical practice (i.e., protocols, pathways, order sets, guidelines of care, etc.) and policy.
* Evaluates outcomes of nursing education for effectiveness of knowledge transfer and cost-benefit. - Organization/System Programs:
Leads and/or facilitates effective and sustainable evidence-based change that achieves desired quality and fiscal outcomes.
Critically evaluates the nursing and medical literature to update and implement best practice.
Designs, implements, and evaluates programs and initiatives to achieve desired outcomes that are congruent with the organization’s strategic imperatives, mission, vision and values, regulatory requirements and nursing standards.
Evaluates and implements products and patient care processes, within the specialty population that incorporates an evidence-based approach.
Collaborates with clinical managers to assist with the analysis of major capital or non-capital purchase items related to the care of patients.
Evaluates clinical and financial data and identifies areas for improvement and works with interdisciplinary team to effect change. - Leadership/Member of a Profession:
Builds relationships and rounds consistently with management, clinical staff, and other healthcare team members to facilitate patient, nursing and organizational outcomes.
Participates in professional nursing organizations and partners with community organizations and schools.
Enhances own professional growth through self-evaluation and setting and meeting own developmental goals.
Advances nursing practice through participation in professional organizations, publications and presentations.
Commits to practice self-care, manage stress and connect with self and others.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- A clinical expert in theory and/or research-bases nursing practice within a specialty area that functions in the following roles: leader, consultant, mentor, change agent within three spheres of influence: nurses/nursing practice, patient/client, and organization/system.
