$85.620 - $110.480 - $135.330The stated pay scale reflects the range that Sharp reasonably expects to pay for this position. The actual pay rate and pay grade for this position will be dependent on a variety of factors, including an applicant’s years of experience, unique skills and abilities, education, alignment with similar internal candidates, marketplace factors, other requirements for the position, and employer business practices.
This position oversees approximately 275 FTEs in Imaging Services located throughout the Sharp Metropolitan Medical Campus in San Diego. This includes, but is not limited to: Diagnostic Radiology, Interventional Radiology, MRI, Nuclear Medicine, Ultrasound, and the surrounding outpatient imaging clinics.
What You Will Do
This position is responsible for the provision of all Imaging services for the respective entity. This individual will assess, plan, implement and evaluate all aspects of care and/or programs and ensure their financial viability. This position is also responsible for the administration and coordination of clinical services, the management of all Imaging operations for both inpatient and outpatient settings, including compliance with Joint Commission and other regulatory agency guidelines. The Director develops business plans, equipment acquisition, materiel management, and preparation of budgets, statistical reports, and strategic planning. The Director supports the Mission and Values of Sharp HealthCare.

- ARRT Certificate - ARRT OR Certified Radiologic Technologist (CRT) - CA Department of Public Health; AND 5 years clinical experience in medical imaging; AND 3 years of management experience in related field. - REQUIRED

7 years clinical experience in medical imaging; AND 5 years of medical imaging management experience. - REQUIRED
Essential Functions
- Key Responsibilities
Establishes quality assurance, process improvement and cost containment programs via departmental and interdisciplinary involvement. Responsible for periodic monitoring, timely and accurate reports. Develops quality outcome measures in conjunction with appropriate members of the medical staff for all assigned areas of responsibility, which are reported on an annual basis to the Quality Council.
Responsible for maintaining compliance with all aspects of the department policy and procedure plan. Establishes policy and procedures as determined by national or community standards. Ensures organizational compliance with national, state and local regulation as they impact assigned areas.
Participates in hospital-wide committees to include Critical Care, Infection Control, Safety, Quality, Interdisciplinary, Risk Management Committees as requested by VP, and Clinical Support.
Works closely with radiologists to ensure open communication and is able to demonstrate responsiveness to addressing/solving issues regarding their affiliation.
Assures orientation and appropriate training programs are developed and maintained in areas of responsibility. Promotes professional growth of the staff through educational programs, committee and/or task force involvement. Monitors and assists in maintaining licensure of staff to include: CPR, RCP, RN, CRT, ARRT, NMTCB, ARDMS, IV Certification, and other required licenses/credentials for staff. Establishes competency standards in all areas, technical and procedural.
Accountable for establishing budget congruent with the strategic plan of the organization and monitoring on an ongoing basis. Assures that the financial objectives of the organization are met through participation in teams and work redesign efforts that lead to operational efficiency. Responsible for evaluation and assessment of equipment, supplies, and labor needs of areas of responsibility.
Responds to patient, employee, and medical staff complaints; provides follow-up information to appropriate parties; ensures good customer service from all staff members; conducts periodic customer (internal and external) satisfaction surveys; maintains confidentiality in dealing with patients and/or employee information; makes recommendations for improving services in a highly caring and professional manner.
Assists in developing long range operational plans relative to services, programs, capital, and human resource planning. In developing and updating an annual marketing plan, monitors observed trends of service utilization for existing and services.
Assures staff is clear on job expectations and performance. Annually updates and reviews position descriptions. Complies with organizational performance appraisal system. Measures turnover and whether it is controllable or non-controllable. Maintains established productivity standards.
Responsible for the areas of responsibilities Safety program; adheres to all general and radiation safety policies and monitors staff compliance; recognizes safety hazards to staff and/or patients, reports and takes appropriate action immediately in order to maintain a safe working environment including proper body mechanics; maintains appropriate reports; investigates serious outcomes and recommends appropriate remedial actions to prevent recurrence. Practices/maintains appropriate infection control procedures to prevent cross-contamination and adherence to BSI (body substance isolation). Monitors staff compliance with guidelines established by hospital Safety Committee.
Maintains professional acumen in management functions; expands job-related knowledge and skills to improve performance; participates in professional organizations as required. - Customer Service
Consistently communicates in a positive and timely manner with staff members, physicians, other allied health personnel, patients and visitors and other customers.
Resolves problems in a professional and proactive manner.
Demonstrates teambuilding, teamwork, cooperation and responsiveness to customer related issues.
Measures and trends patient satisfaction and implements action plans as necessary to achieve patient satisfaction.
Identifies and trends the needs of the customers served within SHC service line and implements action plans as necessary to achieve customer satisfaction. - Quality
Maintains quality patient care through use of clinical expertise, patient care interdisciplinary process and effective supervisory skills.
Participates in both unit and level of care quality assurance process. Reviews or coordinates the review of quality variance reports for designated unit or units, identifies trends, and develops action plans for resolution.
Identifies and trends learning needs of staff and works with Clinical Leads and Managers to assure needs are met.
Assures that the standards of care are implemented, evaluated and updated.
Assures delivery of quality patient care that meets all accreditation and regulatory standards.
Reviews, revises, develops, and maintains safety policies and procedures related to department activities work environment.
Reviews current operations and assesses appropriateness of and compliance with safety policies. Works proactively with Biomed, Risk Management, nursing care areas, medical directors, and others to ensure ongoing compliance. - Clinical Practice/Patient evaluation
Effectively institute change, supporting area, level of care and organizational goals.
Identify unit/area level of care, or organizational problems, develops and/or contributes to a plan to resolve issues. Implements and/or assists with plans to achieve resolution.
Develop protocols and competencies with staff and physician support to ensure all employees have attained skill mix level to ensure peak performance in the delivery of care or tests.
Tracks and trend outcomes and process improvements, which result in, cost containment, quality outcomes or improved efficiencies.
Provide education to staff to ensure the delivery of care or tests are performed optimally to alleviate adverse outcomes or erroneous result reporting.
Supports and directs staff participation in interdisciplinary meetings to effect better communication and team building between disciplines. - Special Projects/Program Development
Leads and/or participates on task forces/committees as designated by executive leadership.
Provides information, preparation, and submittal of assigned tasks or projects that meet expected outcomes.
Develops programs or performs special projects as directed by executive leadership. - Process Improvement/Cost Containment Efforts/Programs
Provides process improvement or cost containment efforts, which provide efficiencies and/or cost containment for the organization.
Maintains operating areas within budgeted UOS. Develops achievable action plans when actual expense exceeds budget.
Maintains areas of responsibilities productivity at 100%.
Participates in development of budget and ensure compliance within budget throughout the budget year. - Professional Education
Verbally clarifies, counsels, and institutes developmental and corrective action plans as necessary.
Assures that all pertinent information is provided to staff through staff meetings and other forms of formal and informal communication.
Assures appropriate staff and skill mix for optimal area/unit function.
Enable staff to participate in scheduling and staffing. Assure schedule is posted within designated time frame.
Assures that staff performance appraisals are conducted in a timely manner and assures that up-to-date employee records are maintained.
Assist staff access to services provided by Human Resources, EAP and EQD.
