Hourly Pay Range (Minimum - Midpoint - Maximum):

$25.310 - $31.640 - $37.970


This position is covered by a Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) with SEIU-UHW. As part of the terms of employment, employees in this role are required to join the union within 31 days of hire and remain a member (e.g. dues paying, fee paying, religious exception contributor) for the duration of the collective bargaining agreement.

Part time - 64 hours per 2 week pay period.


What You Will Do
To perform various direct patient care activities and assist with a variety of endoscopic procedures in the Endoscopy department under the direct supervision of a Registered Nurse and the attending gastroenterologist. Facilitates patient data management through transcription, order entry, and documentation. Supports best use of resources in management on equipment, supplies, and other department resources.

Required Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent GED
  • AHA Basic Life Support for Healthcare Professional (AHA BLS Healthcare) - American Heart Association


Preferred Qualifications

  • 1 Year endoscopy lab experience.
  • 1 Year experience nursing assistance in an acute care or geriatric setting.
  • Endoscopy, surgical or procedural tech experience.


Other Qualification Requirements

  • Completion of GI Technical Specialist (GTS) program within 90 days of hire - required. Program completion to be tracked and maintained by the department.


Essential Functions

  • Equipment maintenance

    Accurate and efficiently provides high level disinfection of all endoscopes/washers based on SGNA guidelines and established Sharp Policy and Procedure. Maintains quality log book documentation for regulatory compliance. (Measured and monitored through observation by direct supervisor and QA book audits).
  • General support
    Completes duties within time frames, maintains equipment and supplies, may assist with ordering supplies; restock rooms; ensures optimal workflow by assisting in transfers of patients as necessary; fosters efficient turnaround of rooms.
  • Patient care

    Accurately and efficiently performs patient care activities under the direct supervision of a registered nurse. Is proficient in assisting the gastroenterologist during endoscopic procedures. (Measured and monitored through eQVR process and observation by immediate supervisor).
  • Professional development

    Actively participates in endoscopy department skills day and departmental in-services. Aides in teach new staff correct maintenance and processing of endoscopy equipment. Orients to staff to all aspects of the endoscopy technician role. Updates knowledge by participating in educational opportunities and changes to SGNA standards of practice. (Measured and monitored through direct observation by immediate supervisor).
  • Specimens

    Under the direct supervision of the attending gastroenterologist and registered nurse, obtains tissue specimens, brushings, and washings during endoscopy procedures. Correctly communicates and verifies specimen labeling to the registered nurse and gastroenterologist. Correctly documents specimens in the log book prior to transporting them to the laboratory. (Measured and monitored through observation by immediate supervisor, eQVR process, and specimen log audits).
