$57.740 - $74.490 - $83.440The stated pay scale reflects the range that Sharp reasonably expects to pay for this position. What You Will Do
Under the direction of the Manager/Supervisor, the Lead CT Technologist is responsible for directing day-to-day operations of the Computed Tomography (CT) and Nuclear Medicine (NM) departments and supervision of the CT, PET/CT, and Nuclear Medicine technologists and support staff as needed. Performs a variety of technical procedures that will require independent judgment, with ingenuity and initiative. Assumes responsibilities for designated areas or procedures as required. May have individual responsibility for specified CT procedures and/or may be assigned as a trainer for new employees.
Required Qualifications
- Satisfactory completion of formal training program in an AMA approved school.
- 2 Years experience as a CT Technologist.
- 1 Year experience in a leadership role.
- Certified Radiologic Technologist (CRT) - CA Department of Public Health -REQUIRED
- Radiologic Technologist Fluoroscopy Permit - CA Department of Public Health -REQUIRED
- AHA Basic Life Support for Healthcare Professional (AHA BLS Healthcare) - American Heart Association -REQUIRED
- Venipuncture Certification - Various-Employee provides certificate -REQUIRED
- Certified Computed Tomography (CT)(ARRT) - ARRT -REQUIRED
Essential Functions
- Daily Operations
Assures daily staffing levels are appropriate for workload and quality patient care needs.
Supervision of day-to-day activities of Radiology Personnel to ensure efficient staff productivity.
Ensures that patient flow within the department is constant and organized.
Problem solves to promote positive relationships with internal and external customers.
Facilitates referring physician's requests.
Ensures adequate inventory and equipment maintenance in the department.
Maintains professional and positive atmosphere in the department.
Ensures adherence to departmental Policy, Procedure, and guidelines (i.e.: dress code, radiation safety, standard precautions).
Provide patients, families and colleagues with excellent customer service skills.
Practice the use of AIDET (acknowledge, introduce, duration, explanation and thank patient) with each encounter with a patient.
Provide service recovery in the event that the patient or family's expectations have not been met. - Assures and Produces High Quality Exams
Ensures optimal image QA, performs procedures according to department protocol.
Understands and applies appropriate imaging techniques and demonstrates specified annual competencies.
Positions according to department imaging protocols.
Labels and identifies studies correctly using legal documentation.
Uses imaging equipment proficiently.
Uses imaging agents (contrast) according to protocol. - Patient and Family Education
Provides pre and post procedure education and reassurance to include but not limited to: what the procedure is, how long it is going to take, physician involved, contrast administration and mode of delivery, positioning, instructions related to procedure, the report, patient satisfaction form, etc.
Interacts and communicates in a manner to reflect an understanding of the patient's age, culture, state of health, level of comprehension.
Communicates and interacts with the patient's family in a way that is perceived positive and supportive while maintaining patient confidentiality. - Quality Assurance
Verifies patient identification and pregnancy status.
Implements safe, efficient and therapeutic care.
Performs proper procedure on proper patient.
Demonstrates knowledge of universal precautions.
Observes the patient, reports any changes in status, and initiates appropriate action to ensure a positive outcome. Follows patient's Advanced Directive.
Maintains strict patient confidentiality, keeps work discussion professional and limited to private areas. - Safety and Regulatory Compliance
Maintains and adheres to exam protocols on equipment console, build, revise or remove protocols under the direction of the radiologists and/or manager.
Update and educate technologists and support staff on new procedures, protocols and/or guidelines of care.
Stay current on regulatory requirements, gather information and assists inspector.
Ensures all exams are completed properly and all images are accounted for by the end of the shift.
Verify physician's written order and assures appropriate clinical indication of ordered exams.
Begin exams in RIS.
Accurately complete exams in RIS, filling out appropriate information (contrast, fluoroscopy time, QC, resource, technical modifiers, technologist/student/RN/Radiologist).
Provide correct coding of exams, billing modifiers, and supplies.
Depart patient in RIS when appropriate.
Ensure paperwork is filed appropriately.
Follows departmental Safety Policies and Procedures regarding one's personal protection and patient safety.
Maintain a safe work environment.
Troubleshoot potential and actual problems both internal and external to the department. - Leadership
Provides input to manager/supervisor/ops coordinator on hiring and promotion decisions, corrective actions, coaching and counseling.
Participate in interviewing and selection of new hire and promotion candidates.
Complete employee's annual performance evaluations. Provide staff feedback regarding their performance including strengths, weaknesses and areas of improvement.
Communicates pertinent issues to the manager/ops coordinator/supervisor on a timely basis.
Supports development of technical/student staff.
Acts as a resource to staff and physicians.
Meet pay period staffing and productivity standards.
Oversee daily, weekly and pay period time and attendance entries. Timely completion of staff schedules.
Coordinates lunch and breaks are provided to all staff, maintaining adequate staffing levels.
Document, monitor and investigate adverse events within the CT and Nuclear Medicine Department.
Function as the modality expert with new technology, procedures and guidelines of care. Participate in the selection process of new equipment.
Develop and support staff on education, training and competencies.
Assists in the training and orientation of new employees, cross training of existing employees and students technologists.
Assist with completing new employee orientation and training checklists.
Provide feedback of student's progress to Clinical Instructor through competencies and evaluations. - Equipment and Supplies
Maintain modality equipment, supplies and technology for optimal performance.
Maintain stocking of supplies, submit orders as needed or inform leadership of supply needs.
Manage the department equipment, schedules maintenance as needed, and brings issues to leadership.
Ensures department's cleanliness and is free of clutter.
