$27.280 - $34.100 - $40.920The stated pay scale reflects the range that Sharp reasonably expects to pay for this position. What You Will Do
The Maintenance Mechanic I will help reduce patient care disruptions by performing work assignments in a timely manner while ensuring that there is a safe, sanitary, healthy, pleasant, and comfortable environment for visitors, patients, physicians and employees. This position works collaboratively with other Maintenance Mechanics and leadership to complete work order requests as well as ad hoc requests. Maintenance Mechanics provides full service building and facility maintenance to multiple medical centers and sites to ensure efficient daily operations and positive quality outcomes.
Required Qualifications
- H.S. Diploma or Equivalent
- 1 Year experience in repairs and/or maintenance of buildings and equipment; experience to include but is not limited to HVAC, electrical, plumbing, fire controls, etc.
- Driver's License - CA Department of Motor Vehicles -REQUIRED
- Commercial Driver License (CDL) Class A - CA Department of Motor Vehicles -REQUIRED
- Commercial Driver License (CDL) Class B - CA Department of Motor Vehicles -REQUIRED
Preferred Qualifications
- Other : Trade school
- Experience in healthcare and/or hospital environment.
Other Qualification Requirements
- Demonstrates clean driving record in accordance with the requirements of the employer DMV pull notice program and Sharp HealthCare Driver Guidelines.
Essential Functions
- Daily Operations
Respond to and completes requests for service as determined by work orders in a timely manner. Complete assigned work orders and enter necessary information for future reference.
Manage assigned daily tasks to ensure quality and service standards.
Ensure prompt and efficient return of messages in the department.
Works with various staff and department to resolve issues. Informs and keeps department leadership apprised of issues as appropriate.
Demonstrate technical expertise and competency within scope of job description, acts as a resource for the designated area of responsibility. Partner with other Maintenance Mechanics and leadership to continuously learn and expand knowledge base.
Listen to employee requests, collects pertinent information and assesses needs, recognizes the urgency of the problems, offers advice and recommendations based on approved protocols.
Participate in special projects as requested by management.
Provide assistance to staff in resolving issues related to areas of responsibilities.
Acts as a positive role model and ensures appropriate service delivery.
Perform all other duties as required by Manager. - Teamwork and Problem Solving

Maintain expense per unit of service (controllable expenses only to include supplies, purchased services, employee related expenses and other miscellaneous expenses).
Takes initiative in using time effectively and financial responsibility by requesting quotes/proposals that are favorable to the department - Compliance
Ensure compliance with established policies, procedures and guidelines for department and other applications. Complies with Sharp Rees-Stealey attire and uniform policy and procedures.
Work with management to ensure adequate department coverage and/or provide adequate alternatives.
Ensures attendance and overtime compliance. Adheres to attendance policies and procedures.
Maintain current certifications (if applicable) to ensure current validity.
Meet all policy and procedure compliance within the department. Adhere to procedural changes, such as new protocols. - Quality
Demonstrate commitment to customers through service excellence.
Effectively communicate, cooperate and collaborate to achieve the best positive results. Model appropriate interaction with patients. Hold self to high standards of service-oriented behavior.
Customer Service Data as determined by overall patient satisfaction scores relating to facilities and environment.
Communicate site issues to support services managers and management. Has an open line of communication.
As requested or directed, conduct surveys of facilities for all areas of responsibility with support services manager or designee achieving positive change.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Must have ability to effectively coordinate, guide and implement various building maintenance tasks and vendors at multiple clinic sites simultaneously.
- Responsible for instilling safe work habits in employees and for the maintenance of the work environment
- General knowledge of maintenance procedures and use of a wide variety of maintenance tools and equipment.
- Genral knowledge in Word, Excel, and computerized Maintenance Management system (CMMS).
- Documents maintenance services by completing forms, reports, logs, and records.
- Maintains vehicles by filling gasoline and oil levels; scheduling regular maintenance.
