$53.649 - $69.224 - $84.800The stated pay scale reflects the range that Sharp reasonably expects to pay for this position. The actual pay rate and pay grade for this position will be dependent on a variety of factors, including an applicant’s years of experience, unique skills and abilities, education, alignment with similar internal candidates, marketplace factors, other requirements for the position, and employer business practices.
What You Will Do
Provide professional knowledge of hospital acquisition of supplies and equipment for both capital and routine purchases. Administer and direct systems to enhance quality, efficiency, and cost effectiveness of programs within Materials management areas. Organize training, administration and direction of department personnel.
Required Qualifications
- 1 Year experience in Purchasing/Materials Management with supervision responsibilities.
- 1 Year Materials Management within healthcare setting.
Other Qualification Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with courses in purchasing, business and personnel administration preferred. On the job Purchasing/materials Management experience may be substituted for college study on a year for year basis.
Essential Functions
- Facilitates all entity ordering requisitions (i.e. supplies, equipment, and services) in an efficient cost containing manner.
Assures appropriate record keeping of said orders for future retrieval.
Acts as facility liaison between hospital and central purchasing.
Provides accurate revenue retrieval processes.
Coordinates activities with facility departments to ensure integration of services via formal and informal mechanisms.
Develops and implements department’s standards consistent with facility needs.
Ensures sufficient numbers of competent staff; responsible for hiring, coaching, orientation, education and evaluation of staff.
Ensures the continuous monitoring, assessment and improvement performance of department services. - Financial
Monitor and operate (+ or -) 5% of department budget. Assist other departments with tracking supply expenses and contract maintenance agreements to further reduce entity expenses. Standard: Meet operations budget.
Assist all functional areas with purchasing information relative to individual departmental annual budgeting planning requirements. Standard: Documentation of five (5) meetings.
Assure timely compilation and submission of patient charge card hatching to achieve a consistency in average daily billing process. Standard: Late charges appear no more than four (4) times per year as a result of department actions. - Service Development
Maintain and update purchasing records. Process all purchasing request within two (2) days of receipt. Organize and maintain Materials Management documents (i.e. Buy Out Requisitions, Purchase Orders, etc). Standard: Four (4) exceptions per year.
Oversees, controls, and insures that incoming supplies and equipment are received, documented and delivered to appropriate departments.
Generate and submit month end reports to Vice President, Quality & Mission, meeting the specified deadline requirements.
Attend managerial meetings and in services. Standard: Four (4) to five (5) exceptions per year.
Attend system wide meetings (i.e. Standards Committee, Materials Management Action Planning, etc.). Actively participate and assist with system wide goals and objectives. (80% to 90% attendance). - Leadership
Complete employee performance appraisals within two (2) weeks interval of evaluation anniversary date. (85% to 90% of the time).
Continually provide a safe working environment implementing corrective and preventive action for staff members. Promptly report any accidents.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Must have general knowledge of medical terminology.
- Ability to effectively communicate both verbally and in written.
