Hourly Pay Range (Minimum - Midpoint - Maximum):

$24.091 - $30.113 - $36.136


The stated pay scale reflects the range that Sharp reasonably expects to pay for this position.  The actual pay rate and pay grade for this position will be dependent on a variety of factors, including an applicant’s years of experience, unique skills and abilities, education, alignment with similar internal candidates, marketplace factors, other requirements for the position, and employer business practices.



What You Will Do
Provides for the organization, maintenance and purchase of equipment and supplies. Assures the monitoring of the environment. Maintains records of equipment use, repair and preventative maintenance. Orders and tracks issue requests. Assists with preparation of capital budget. Serves as resource to operate and trouble shoot patient care equipment.

Required Qualifications

  • 2 Years experience in hospital materials/equipment or purchasing departments or similar experience that can transfer to equipment/materials.

  • Associate's Degree


Essential Functions

  • Budget management
    Demonstrates the ability to proactively communicate with other healthcare team members to provide information relevant to the financial issues associated with equipment and supplies. Provides financial data for calculating cost of use and ROI.
    Follows through as directed to follow up on issues and concerns identified as financial trends are analyzed.
    Participates in the budgetary process by communicating to the healthcare team concerns and issues related to new capital and supply purchases.
    Completes paperwork associated with purchase, contacts vendors for bids
  • Equipment maintenance
    Develops, organizes, and maintains records related to equipment in the areas of responsibility.
    Provides for appropriate turnaround time when equipment is out of service for repair or maintenance, following up as needed with other departments.
    Communicates with the other members of the healthcare team to ensure that equipment repairs and maintenance are completed in a timely fashion
    Establish and monitor preventative maintenance schedules for equipment not covered by biomed
  • Equipment purchasing
    Demonstrates an understanding the capital equipment and equipment purchaser process.
    Is a resources when confronted with new or problematic situations with equipment or supplies
    Collaborates with leadership and clinical staff in making decisions related to purchase of equipment.
    Arranges evaluation of equipment for capital consideration, assures availability and collection of evaluation forms from users
  • Operation of equipment
    Provides education to staff by working with educator to arrange Staff inservices and review of technical manuals
    Maintains department equipment manuals per JCAHO requirements
    Maintains sufficient knowledge/skill to help troubleshoot equipment operations
    Demonstrates ability to help teach equipment use to staff.
  • Patient care supplies
    In collaboration with other departments and unit Leadership team provides for the establishment and maintenance of par levels of patient care supplies to support the clinical needs of the units.
    Continuously assess the need for minor equipment purchase, rental to provide for the clinical needs of the patients served, assure delivery and documentation in time for patient care.
    Assures correct PAR levels of specialty stock
    Completes specialty orders for implants, tissue and completes required documentation
  • Safety
    Assess the work environment for safety issues and reports findings.
    Identifies educational needs for clinical staff to promote patient safety.
    Provides for appropriate documentation of education provided.
    Collaborates with manager to develop plan of action to resolve identified safety concern
    Makes weekly safety rounds to assure compliance with JCAHO EOC standards, serves as department safety representative
