$37.503 - $48.391 - $59.279


The stated pay scale reflects the range that Sharp reasonably expects to pay for this position.  The actual pay rate and pay grade for this position will be dependent on a variety of factors, including an applicant’s years of experience, unique skills and abilities, education, alignment with similar internal candidates, marketplace factors, other requirements for the position, and employer business practices.



What You Will Do
To identify the training and educational needs of the Revenue Cycle division; lead and coordinate the training and education efforts for all Revenue Cycle end users including Patient Access Services Leadership/staff, Patient Financial Services Leadership/staff, HIM Leadership/staff, and Clinical Leadership/staff as needed for all SHC entities. This position is responsible for the evaluation and development of educational materials, guidelines, and competencies in relation to educational needs and the regulatory compliance requirements for the Revenue Cycle division. This position will lead, coordinate and oversee the training and education activities of the Training Specialist-Revenue Cycle to ensure a high quality training and education team. The Training Coordinator will evaluate the development and establishment of linkages between all SHC entities leading to the integration of Policy and Procedure with Training and Education. This position will be highly visible and collaborative with Leadership of all levels in order to ensure the quality development of all Revenue Cycle employees.

Required Qualifications

  • 7 Years experience in a Hospital Revenue Cycle. Years of experience may be supplemented with health care, Training or Education related degree.
  • 2 Years experience facilitating classroom learning including use of presentations, eLearning, and instruction based learning.
  • 1 Year project testing, training and implementation experience leading to Successful implementation of performance improvement tools and concepts.
  • Experience implementing workflow solutions related to health care regulations.
  • Experience developing and delivering training programs.
  • Experience with Learning Management Systems (LMS)


Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business, Health Care Administration or Human Resources related field.
  • Master's Degree in Business, Health Care Administration or Human Resources related field.


Other Qualification Requirements

  • HBI-Certified Revenue Cycle Specialist (CRCS) or equivalent preferred. Six Sigma Yellow Belt and Green Belt Certifications are preferred. The department is responsible for tracking and maintaining these certifications.


Essential Functions

  • Communication
    Assures training and related communications for the Revenue Cycle division are provided in a creative and effective way through the most appropriate medium for the intended audience (newsletter, communication, online meeting, computer based learning, etc).
    Creates and releases all Revenue Cycle staff and Leadership communications; maintains accurate record of all communications in the Training and Education department SharePoint.
    Represents training and education at all project meetings and testing sessions in which Revenue Cycle operations will be affected. Communicates project status, targets, activities and issues among Revenue Cycle employees through appropriate mediums.
    Communicates project status on a regular basis to Training Specialist-Revenue Cycle in order to prepare team members for go-lives or workflow changes. Involves Training Specialist-Revenue Cycle in project development and training as needed. Reports project status on a regular basis to Training and Education Department Manager to assure understanding, agreement, and attainment of project goals. Documents project status and requirements of Training and Education team members.
    Communicates identified training needs to a highly effective training team and coordinates the team effectively in order to conduct group, remediation and one-on-one training in the classroom, office, online, or onsite.
    Assists all ISD teams with system or application changes affecting Revenue Cycle employees, voices any changes needed to maintain the least upset to current workflows. Communicates information to the Revenue Cycle division regarding system or application changes that may affect operations.
    Oversees the maintenance of the Training and Education team email inbox, sends necessary mass communications and responds to requests in a timely manner, delegates requested training efforts throughout the Training team.
    Maintains open communication with Staffing Resource Network (SRN) in regards to hiring plans for the Revenue Cycle division and training needs for SRN staff.
  • Customer service
    Maintain active relationships with all customers by continuously assessing needs, preferences, and levels of satisfaction.
    Maintain close contact with Training and Education team members on all matters pertaining to the development and maintenance of training resources including applications, training rooms, and training schedules in order to best serve the customer.
    Actively participates in project implementations affecting Revenue Cycle staff to ensure the training and educational needs of the customer are met. Assist with smooth implementation of new and existing procedures that may affect Revenue Cycle staff to ensure the success of the project.
    Represents the Training and Education department in a professional and competent manner.
    Demonstrates dedication to enhancement and improvement of skills and departmental objectives.
    Demonstrates positive interactions with all customers.
  • Documentation management
    Analyzes, identifies, and documents trends through audit reports to identify training needs and provide recommendations at the individual, departmental, and organizational levels. Shares trends with Training and Education team and Manager to implement solutions for improvement.
    Leads quarterly review of training documents with the Training and Education team to evaluate the effectiveness of training documents. Identifies and updates or communicates needed revisions to the Training Specialist-Revenue Cycle. Records training document revisions to ensure accuracy of all training documents.
    Works directly with QC Manager, IS application analysts, and Revenue Cycle Leadership to coordinate the development, maintenance and distribution of job aids, training materials and guidelines as necessary.
    Develops and maintains the Revenue Cycle Training and Education page on SharpNet ensuring that all documents or information listed are accurate. Coordinates with SHC web developers to create complex web forms as needed.
    Compiles documentation of all training evaluations in order to identify areas for improvement in Trainer knowledge, training materials, training methods, etc. Reviews documentation and suggestions for improvement with Training and Education Department Manager.
    Evaluates job aid and guideline requests, documents and assigns request to Training Specialist-Revenue Cycle as necessary. Evaluates completed job aid or guideline and submits request from Leadership for approval as needed.
    Creates and maintains documentation specific to the Training and Education team approval processes for specified role responsibilities.
  • Human resources management
    Establishes and determines appropriate staff and skill mix for optimal training through the coordination of the Training Specialist-Revenue Cycle schedules and a training calendar.
    Ensures all pertinent information is provided to the training team through meetings and other forms of formal or informal communication.
    Creates account requests for all new hires. Works directly with Staffing Resource Network to monitor the hiring schedule as it relates to NEO and training needs.
    Oversees the maintenance of all training records for staff within the Revenue Cycle division in regard to compliance and corrective action or remediation training requests.
    Works directly with Leadership, SRN and Human Resources to ensure that all training needs for Revenue Cycle staff are met in order to lead to the success of a Revenue Cycle employee and maintain compliance with Joint Commission standards and all federal, state, and local regulations.
  • Problem resolution
    Analyzes, evaluates, leads and coordinates the implementation of effective workflow support to maximize user effectiveness and utilization of systems.
    Using sound knowledge of business, strategic, and IS strategies; translates business requirements into system solutions that meet project and department requirements.
    Performs thorough problem analysis to determine users' needs through a variety of appropriate methods such as: onsite visits, review of department policies and procedures, review of system capabilities, or employee satisfaction. Reports findings to Training and Education Department Manager as necessary.
    Identifies root cause and determines possible solutions for problems. Requests further analysis of problem from the Training and Education team to identify any other possible solutions.
    Develops a comprehensive analysis of pros/cons and implications of proposed solutions.
    Communicates identified solutions to Training and Education Department Manager and team members, including Revenue Cycle Leadership as necessary.
    Demonstrates strategic and forward thinking by seeking out data and conducting a thorough analysis of downstream and upstream Revenue Cycle impact of the issues and proposed solutions.
  • Quality and project management
    Represents Training and Education in Revenue Cycle project implementations including testing, training, and go-live support for end users.
    Demonstrates content expertise regarding Revenue Cycle applications and business operations in order to offer valuable knowledge in project build, test and implementation phases.
    Manages project expectations and priorities through effective interaction and communication to ensure understanding, agreement, and attainment of project goals.
    Uses appropriate prioritization, timing and creativity to ensure projects are completed on time and within the resource constraints as initially agreed upon. Communicates completion dates and delays proactively.
    Documents project outcome goals in a matrix containing several simultaneous projects. Coordinates and assigns tasks among self and Training Specialist-Revenue Cycle to assure delivery of outcomes. Reports outcomes to project team and Training and Education Department Manager on a regular basis.
    Participates in and offers suggestions (at least 2 per year) to improve departmental service, productivity, staff development, or operations.
    Provide testing and training support to Information Systems teams for implementations of new applications or upgrades of Revenue Cycle utilized systems.
    Assists Revenue Cycle Leadership and ISD teams on special projects and supports all Revenue Cycle goals.
    Proposes and implements creative solutions to problems.
    Independently performs other departmental tasks not specific to training coordination.
  • Training and education
    Leads training team members in planning, coordination, and delivery of training for Revenue Cycle.
    Identifies training needs within the Revenue Cycle division; coordinates and implements appropriate training for staff.
    Identifies and determines future course offerings needed to improve the technical knowledge of employees and to satisfy the customer demand for advanced training.
    Designs, develops and maintains computer-based learning materials. Manage assignments of CBLs to Revenue Cycle staff through the Enterprise's Leaning Management System (LMS), as appropriate or needed for compliance.
    Develops and maintains annual competencies to be released to Revenue Cycle staff through the LMS in order to ensure compliance with Joint Commission standards.
    Assists Training and Education Department Manager in development of appropriate budgeting, standards, space and device planning to assure effective training and education.
    Oversees and maintains Revenue Cycle Training schedule for FY ahead of present date through the use of a master calendar. Ensures availability of equipment, space, resources, and materials.
    Coordinates Training Specialist- Revenue Cycle time to maintain an active and consistent training calendar.
    Oversees the training efforts of the Training Specialist-Revenue Cycle to ensure training and education being provided meets staff and Revenue Cycle Leadership expectations. Monitors employee reviews of training session and Training Specialist performance to identify areas for improvement.
    Ensures all follow-up evaluations of new hires are performed by Training Specialist, reviews for further action when requested.
    Evaluates training being provided by the Training Specialist to assure that training is customer focused and based on the needs identified by customers throughout the system.
    Identifies deficiencies in training of new hires and provides suggestions for improvements in order to meet training expectations.
    Evaluates effectiveness of the training programs, compiles class evaluations and reports findings to Revenue Cycle Leadership on a monthly basis.
    Assists, evaluates, and mentors team members' competence/knowledge in the design and development of training and education curriculum.
    Maintains and assigns (as requested) vendor provided certification-based assignments to Revenue Cycle staff in order to allow for staff's growth in Revenue Cycle knowledge. Proctors exams to allow staff the opportunity to obtain certification offered.
    Evaluates job aid and guideline requests, creates and maintains documentation for the request. Creates or assigns creation of job aids and guidelines as necessary. Once created, ensures necessary approval processes are followed.
    Oversees and assists in the development of training curriculum, job aids, newsletters, webinars, or other coursework as appropriate.
    Leads quarterly review of all training programs, materials, evaluations, and modules for possible updates or revisions.
    Leads the development and maintenance of a Preceptor/Mentor program to ensure the onsite success of all Revenue Cycle new hires in all departments.
    Coordinates or provides GE Centricity training to clinical or other departments outside of Revenue Cycle as needed.
    Maintains SharePoint with all internal department documents, training materials, schedules, request links, and records.
    Works with division Policy and Procedure expert to ensure all documentation and training efforts are linked to lead toward integration of policy, procedure and education.
    Develops relationships with all Revenue Cycle Leaders to ensure openness in communication regarding training and education as well as remediation needs.
    Performs other various tasks as assigned.


Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Must have knowledge of health care regulations affecting Revenue Cycle operations and experience implementing workflow solutions related to health care regulations.
  • In depth knowledge of Lean Six Sigma methodologies preferred.
  • Advanced level of proficiency with MS Office and MS applications including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Visio, and SharePoint required.
  • Advanced level of proficiency with Adobe Suite including Acrobat and Captivate preferred.
  • Advanced knowledge of Computer based applications including GE Centricity Framework ADT/HPA, Cerner Applications, OnBase, DSG, and HealthStream preferred.
  • Must have effective project management skills with a superior ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously while managing deadlines.
  • Must have strong personal leadership and time management skills while demonstrating the ability to coordinate and assist in prioritization others’ time and responsibilities.
  • Must demonstrate ability to effectively manage own time and coordinate the time management of others in regard to training needs.
  • Must demonstrate effective analytical ability and sound judgement to assess complex needs and troubleshoot performance or process issues.
  • Must have proven strong communication, analytical, and interpersonal skills. Ability to communicate (verbal / written) and work effectively with Sharp executives, directors, management, staff, and vendors in order to achieve positive results for the organization.
