Hourly Pay Range (Minimum - Midpoint - Maximum):

$25.310 - $31.640 - $37.970


The stated pay scale reflects the range that Sharp reasonably expects to pay for this position.  The actual pay rate and pay grade for this position will be dependent on a variety of factors, including an applicant’s years of experience, unique skills and abilities, education, alignment with similar internal candidates, marketplace factors, other requirements for the position, and employer business practices.



What You Will Do
Responsible for advance scheduling of surgical procedures and coordinating essential equipment, supplies and/or personnel requirements for the procedures. Responsible for patient billing of Surgery department. Responsible for the coordination, completion and accuracy of the statistics for Surgery and the data entry related to the statistics/database items.

Required Qualifications
  • H.S. Diploma or Equivalent
  • 1 Year Experience within a hospital and/or medical setting.

Essential Functions
  • Billing
    Accurately and completely assures processing of all charges for LDR/OR/PACU/ADC/Triage procedures within four calendar days of procedure.
    Identifies and corrects missed charges; identifies and refers incomplete charges; locates missing charge sheets.
    Completes daily self-audit of entered charges.
    Notifies Supervisor of issues or problems with the charging practice.
    Participate in the updating of Charge Sheets.
    Accurately and completely logs all surgical cases and implant information into computer program.
  • Communication
    Employee exhibits effective communication strategies in an effort to create positive first impression. Employee demonstrates customer service by conducting self on the job in a professional manner, extending courtesy, consideration and cooperation to all. Answers phone calls timely, returns messages timely, and remains at desk/work area during normal business hours unless on breaks or is cleared by supervisor.
    Ensures positive activities/interactions with other departments and coworkers by providing appropriate, adequate and accurate information. Listens to ideas, thoughts and feelings of others and responds with appropriate information to ensure customer satisfaction.
    Identifies patient and department relation problems and utilizes professional steps of problem solving to resolve identified issues. Focuses on problem resolution priorities and makes recommendations to resolve.
    Demonstrates teamwork, cooperation, and responsiveness. Perceived by other health care workers as approachable in participating (e.g. assisting, guiding and talking initiative) in the completion of duties.
  • Data entry
    Accurately enters data to the appropriate program from the Delivery Logs and other chart forms.
    Notifies supervisor of problems with data collecting as needed.
  • Department competency
    Complies with hospital and department scheduling guidelines.
    Starts work on time as scheduled.
    Completes assignments in a timely manner.
    Complies with attendance policy.
    Complies with unit dress code.
  • Medical records management
    Assists team member in locating patient data information.
    Demonstrates patient's 24 hour charging record and files per department policy.
    Electronically sorts and links patient information with the patient medical record number.
    Manages archiving of pertinent patient information per policy.
  • Surgery scheduling
    Consistently books surgical cases accurately and completely. Checks availability of necessary supplies, equipment and personnel. Utilizes/borrows from the other campus OR's when necessary. Works closely with Materiel Specialist to assure correct supplies.
    Consistently follows through with all components of case scheduling. Notifies appropriate personnel (Charge RN and Materiel Specialist) of case needs; notifies other departments as indicated; prints and routes schedules to appropriate areas daily.
    Consistently monitors surgery schedule to assure maximum efficient use of O.R. time, staff and equipment. Places cases in appropriate rooms. Assures there are no conflicts with shared resources. Assures rooms are closed appropriately. Asks assistance from Charge RN/Lead/Manager for extraordinary room utilization.
    Notifies Anesthesiologist when a case is cancelled or added after the final schedule is printed and distributed to Anesthesia for review.
    Maintains job related skills (i.e. computer skills).

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Knowledge of medical terminology.
  • Ability to remain calm under pressure.
  • Ability to perform duties according to specific written and/or verbal instructions and to accurately maintain written records.
  • Effective and professional communication both written and verbal on all levels. Intermediate computer skills with a typing speed of (55-60 wpm).
  • Computer skills to include knowledge of common data base, spreadsheet, graphic and word processing.
  • Be able to deal with highly technical and sensitive information with confidentiality.
  • Must possess decision-making abilities and work independently.
  • Ability to effectively organize and prioritize work responsibilities.
  • Ability to multi-task.
