$103.885 - $134.046 - $164.206The stated pay scale reflects the range that Sharp reasonably expects to pay for this position. The actual pay rate and pay grade for this position will be dependent on a variety of factors, including an applicant’s years of experience, unique skills and abilities, education, alignment with similar internal candidates, marketplace factors, other requirements for the position, and employer business practices.
What You Will Do
The Vice President of Ancillary Services is accountable for the day-to-day performance of the ancillary service lines of Rehabilitation, Pharmacy Services, Laboratory Services and Diagnostic Imaging. The Vice President of Ancillary Services is accountable for the quality, safety, cost performance and The Sharp Experience of the ancillary areas of the delivery system, and achievement of strategic goals as well as oversight of business and facility operations for Sharp Rees-Stealy Medical Centers/Group.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree
- 5 Years experience in a senior operational leadership role in a hospital or multi-specialty medical group.
- Experience in managing staff, budgets, performance improvement and project management in a matrixed environment.
- Experience with Kaizens, Value Streams, operation efficiency and waste reduction.
- Strong contract negotiation, establishing and creating positive relationships, analytical and critical thinking, with an ability to effectively and accurately analyze resource requirements for existing and future initiatives.
- Seasoned in ambulatory operations, including access strategies, MGMA Benchmarking, KPI’s and growth and contraction of services.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's Degree in Healthcare Administration, Public Health, Business Administration or related field.
Other Qualification Requirements
- LEAN certification highly preferred.
Essential Functions
- Leadership
Ensure operational compliance with applicable requirements, including federal, state and local laws and regulations as well as application and maintenance of all required accreditations and licensures such as AAAHC, ARC, Board of Pharmacy, CLIA etc. This includes new standards and requirement review, prompt action, and appropriate escalation in response to reports and recommendations from regulatory, accreditation and inspection agencies.
Pharmacy Operation includes the oversight of retail pharmacy, wholesale pharmacy services providing all office- based medication/vaccinations and collaboration with the Clinical Pharmacy team. Oversight of quality, safety, The Sharp Experience and medication adherence, as well as support of SRSMG’s Pharmacy and Therapeutics Committee.
Diagnostic Imaging including Ultrasound, Mammography, advanced imaging, Radiology, and Fluoroscopy services. Representing SRS imaging on various Sharp HealthCare committees. Development and oversight of capital planning and coordination of installs and maintenance of all departments under direct oversight.
Rehabilitation Services, including Physical Therapy, Speech Therapy, Upper Extremity Rehab, and Pediatric Rehab.
Laboratory Operations of high complexity CLIA laboratories, oversight of drawing stations and support for the PPMP/ Waived Complexity CLIA licenses in physician offices. Represents SRS in contract negotiations and relationship with vendors. - Strategic Planning
Develop, obtain Sharp HealthCare, Sharp Rees-Stealy Medical Group and Medical Center agreement and implement capital plans in support of the Sharp Rees-Stealy strategic objectives.
Serves as a member of a highly interactive senior management team that collaborates on all strategic planning, implementation and policy activities with Sharp Rees-Stealy Medical Group, as well as key Sharp HealthCare system level task forces and committees.
Assists the CEO in the short and long-range planning function by recommending changes in systems and policies, especially but not limited to, the evaluation of new medical equipment, pharmaceutical innovations, and technological advances. - Daily Operations
Supports systems integration with Sharp HealthCare by pro-actively coordinating outcomes and gaining commitment from appropriate stakeholders, including administration, physicians, and employee staff.
Prepares and presents periodic reports, statistical information, proposals and other special reports as may be required.
Provides and maintains effective communications with Sharp Rees-Stealy Medical Group, the community and all levels of management and staff by participation in medical group department and committee meetings as required. Serves as an active member of the Sharp Rees-Stealy Administrative Forum, LTM and JOT.
Oversight of all departments appropriate audit, credentialing, accreditation, licensure and/or other payer or government regulation(s) for areas of responsibility.
Contributes to the SRS executive teams’ innovation, collaboration and esprit de corps.
Supports and directs development of management staff to maximize contributions toward established goals.
Regularly tours the facilities and service areas to solicit feedback regarding performance needs, etc. - Quality/Service
Ensures that the highest quality of service is being rendered in the ancillary areas to patients and promotes health care services which are provided in a cost-effective manner by:
Establishing and maintaining the Sharp Experience tenants and Everyday Actions in all people and process interactions between employees, physicians and patients, will create a positive, caring patient care delivery environment.
Assuring the sound fiscal operation of Sharp Rees-Stealy including the timely, accurate, and comprehensive development of an annual operating budget and its implementation.
Ensuring that the capital equipment process is coordinated with the CEO, CFO Medical Director, physician department chair and division leaders and the appropriate approval committee, reviewing all capital equipment expenditures, submitting profit and loss scenarios and making appropriate business and quality of care recommendations.
Establishing the process for division budgets and allocation of funds based upon review of department recommendations, familiarity with operation procedures and cost/revenue projections.
Utilizing the physical resources of the institution to its fullest potential while ensuring against physical damage.
Establishing access standards that meet the industry standard and ensuring appropriate and timely access.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- This position requires a seasoned and competent operational manager with superb communications skills and a talent to innovate and successfully lead people through change elements.
- The successful candidate will possess a highly developed sense of personal integrity, as establishing and maintaining credibility with the members of the Sharp Rees-Stealy Medical Group is of paramount importance.
- This role requires the leader to have had experience developing a positive patient, physician and staff culture of service excellence, top decile quality outcomes and innovative operations efficiencies and well versed in the LEAN daily management system.
- Demonstrated ability to manage projects with emphasis on customer service and High Reliability principles.
- Highly effective interpersonal, oral and written communication with emphasis on relationships and patient centeredness
- Ability to describe and explain essential 4elements of Environment of Care as well as complex analysis to a wider range of audiences, including formal presentations and informal meetings.
- High degree of financial acumen.
